Evidence Frontiers collaborated with Adeso to conduct a Baseline Study for the Resilience and Economic Growth in Arid Lands – Improving Resilience (REGAL–IR) project in Kenya. This study aimed to generate benchmark data to inform project planning, implementation, and subsequent impact evaluation. Through a mixed-methods approach, our team gathered both quantitative and qualitative data to assess critical factors such as household resilience, livelihood diversification, natural resource management, and community governance structures within arid and semi-arid regions. The baseline study established key indicators focusing on food security, income stability, and social cohesion, which empowered Adeso to refine its resilience-building strategies and align interventions with local priorities.
