Baseline study for ACDI/VOCA’s REGAL-AG project

Food Security, Kenya

Evidence Frontiers partnered with ACDI/VOCA to conduct a Baseline Study for the Resilience and Economic Growth in Arid Lands – Accelerated Growth (REGAL–AG) project in Kenya. This study aimed to establish pre-intervention benchmarks that would guide project implementation, performance tracking, and impact assessment. Our skilled team utilized a mixed-methods design, which involved household surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions to assess various aspects such as market systems, livelihoods, gender dynamics, and resilience capacities within pastoral communities in arid and semi-arid regions.

The baseline study yielded valuable insights, providing a comprehensive understanding of income sources, value chain participation, and climate adaptation strategies. The findings played a crucial role in informing ACDI/VOCA’s strategic approach to promoting inclusive market growth, enhancing household resilience, and strengthening local economic systems. By identifying key benchmarks, the project set a strong foundation for measuring future impact and guiding effective interventions.
